My name is Erin Justus and I am the school counselor for our amazing Kindergarten through 3rd graders. I am very excited to work with our students, families, staff, and administration here at Brooklyn Primary.

As the school counselor at the elementary level, my role is to implement a comprehensive school counseling program. This entails classroom guidance lessons, leading small group instruction, and providing brief individual counseling, along with aiding staff and administration. The comprehensive program focuses on three key standards: academic, career, and person and social skills. A brief explanation of the American School Counselor Association's (ASCA) elementary school counselor’s role is located at: https://www.schoolcounselor.org/asca/media/asca/Careers-Roles/WhyElem.pdf

A little bit of my background: I grew up in Baker and attended elementary through high school here. I received my Bachelor’s in Sociology from California State University-Sacramento and my Master’s in School Counseling from the University of Nevada-Reno. When I started my education, my goal was to graduate and eventually come back to what I have always considered home to help facilitate a healthier community.

I absolutely love working with children and am grateful for the opportunity to support the academic, career, and personal/social growth of our Brooklyn students. I look forward to seeing them develop throughout the years. Please, do not hesitate to call or email if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Erin
