As of Wednesday, July 11th, seismic construction upgrades at both Brooklyn Elementary and the Baker High School Gym are progressing as planned and are on schedule.
Work at the BHS Gym has been focused on the interior roofing and truss work that is now 95% done according to Griffin Construction management on-site. The roof demolition has been completed and the new roof will begin to be put in place next week. Crews also will be completing concrete work inside the gym over the next few days.
The roof at Brooklyn is now sheeted and new roofing will begin to go into place. Crews there are also now focused on inside tasks.
Griffin construction representatives also reported that coordination with community events that take place at or near the construction sites has gone very smoothly. This weekend brings many motorcyclists to Baker and many that camp at BHS. Provisions have been put into place that will provide room for the campers as in previous years, including a portable shower facility, that keeps them a safe distance from the construction site.
